If you’re a LEGO enthusiast, you’re definitely going to love this!
On May 12th 2022, the first ever life-size replica of the classic red Ferrari F40 model was launched at LEGOLAND® California Resort’s latest attraction, the “LEGO® Ferrari Build and Race.”
The replica was made entirely of more than 358,000 LEGO pieces!
Amazing, right?
Similar to the original Ferrari F40, it measures about 14 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 4 feet tall, with a wheelbase of about 8 feet. Overall, the life-size LEGO Ferrari F40 model weighs over 3,000 pounds—making it a one-of-a-kind replica of the legendary Ferrari vehicle ever created!
The original Ferrari F40 is a successor to the Ferrari 288 GTO, and it was built in 1987 to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary. It was also the last new car presentation launched by Enzo Ferrari, the automobile company’s founder, before his death.
Did you know that the designers and builders took more than 1,800 hours to construct the Ferrari replica?
And although guests won’t be able to drive the life-size model, they can still sit in it and pretend. They can also join the LEGO® Ferrari Build and Race experience, where they can assemble, test, modify, personalize their license plates, and adjust the aerodynamics and power of their LEGO cars.
Once the fine-tuning (to bring the highest level of performance) is done, the personalized cars are digitally scanned using cutting-edge digital technology, and then the virtual racing begins. Finally, guests can race their own LEGO Ferrari against other created cars on Pista di Fiorano’s digital racetrack.
Many kids, and even LEGO and Ferrari lovers of all ages will undoubtedly enjoy this new attraction!
