Sorry, but continuing to run things the old way makes no sense, since it was a failure based on usage data. I realize you think it was much better, but for most KidzSearch users, it was not good. Maybe they were just too young to use or understand it.

We do remember you. All your original KidzNet data is safe and being restored. However, their will be a different link that we will have available going to the original “KidzNet” system. Some of your content, like groups with a lot of good content, may be incorporated into this new version.

Similar to you, the vast majority of KidzNet users hardly used their accounts. Only a dozen or so members made up the majority of our traffic. Based on numbers, it was sadly a failure, with yearly declining users. Most of the group owners left, so members could not even participate. We came close to just closing it down, but decided to try something else to see if we could save it, which is what you are now using.

The new version does not require membership to access and use (with more limited features). This opens it up to a much wider KidzSearch audience. With some exceptions, very few KidzNet users had a circle of friends they were communicating with on a regular basis. New users found relatively little content in the scattered groups that were not maintained.

The new version will improve each day and is very flexible. You can view it as an online magazine for kids, but with social involvement. Users and guests can also post their own articles. After that, if they leave and never come back, it still has value to future users. The content will be more multimedia rich and we will have professionally written content in addition to user posts. Articles posted will be reviewed by staff for content quality to keep it interesting to other users now and in the future.
