Hello! This is my first post. It’s about Birds!

I am going to give you some general facts about them, so read on!

  • Did you know that birds are related to dinosaurs? Birds evolved from a group of dinosaurs called Theropods that included T. rex. Birds are the only dinosaurs living to this day.
  • According to new research, there are over 18,000 bird species in the world.
  • Another fact is that the male birds also share nesting duties, such as sitting on the eggs all night and half the day to incubate them, and the mom gets the food.
  • Did you know that a group of birds from the same species is called a flock?
  • Birds flock together or stay very close to protect themselves from predators.
  • Flamingos are types of wading birds that are actually born gray. This is because their diet, such as shrimps, algae, and crustaceans, contains an orange pigment called beta carotene!
  • Some birds, like parrots, starlings, and songbirds, can mimic human speech.
  • The world’s smallest bird is the Bee hummingbird. It only grows slightly more than 5.5 cm.
  • In contrast, the largest and heaviest bird in the world is the ostrich. It can grow about 9 feet tall and weighs less than 300 pounds.
  • The Albatrosses can sleep while flying and are known to fly 49,700 miles without touching land.

Well that’s it for today! I hope you liked my post! Bye!
