There once was a 6-year-old small boy named Xavier. His parents were already dead, and they died in a car crash when he was 3. Another unfortunate victim of this event was his older sister, who was Xavier’s age now (6 years old) when she died.
Xavier now lives with his aunt, a dancer, and uncle, an unemployed alcoholic who hates poor Xavier. They live in an apartment in South Carolina. It is sad to say Xavier wasn’t the highlight of his family’s life.
Xavier’s Aunt Helen was never home due to all the demands of the dancing, so he was always left with his Uncle John. Xavier had no friends because he was never allowed to leave his room aside for an hour before his aunt came home. But if Xavier ever came out before then, just say Helen would be treating a black eye.
Because he was left alone for 7 hours every day, he quickly learned to entertain himself with books. Soon enough, he had read his books a million times, but his uncle wouldn’t buy him more.
On the 3rd anniversary of his family’s passing, Xavier felt extra upset and bored that day. He took a long look at himself in the mirror on the inside of the door to his bedroom.
Just as he started to cry, he saw a friendly-looking girl waving to him in his mirror. He tried to talk to her, but it seemed like she didn’t hear. So he wrote her a note and turned it towards her. She smiled and wrote him a note saying, “ Hi Xavier, I’m Madison”, the name of his late sister.
