Hi everyone! It’s DancerGirl887! This week is the first week of Lent! I have a post that explains Lent so you know and can learn throughout these 40 days leading to Easter.

This week, I want you to donate to your church or a Catholic Church if you can. If you can’t do that, just make a little cardboard box with a slot in it.

Put a coin in every day! On Easter or the night before, go bring it to charities or someone who needs it. I also want to explain Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday was February 14th this year. All Catholics go to church and receive last year’s palm ashes(palm is a plant!) on their forehead.

The priest, deacon, or volunteer will say one of these two options while making the sign of the cross on your forehead.

Here are the 2 things they could have said:

1. “Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

2. “Repent and believe in the Gospel.”

The deacon said to me, “Repent and believe in the Gospel.” I felt happy to have that cross on my forehead. It made me feel proud that I was Catholic. This is funny because someone walked up to me(they weren’t Catholic) and said, “Uh, you have dirt on your forehead.”

I laughed and explained that today was Ash Wednesday, and I went to mass.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, and it starts with a cross on your forehead.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Lent is a holy and prayerful time, and I love sharing my faith with all of you. God bless!
