From the title, you can see a word that isn’t very common. “Candlemas” is the mark of 40 days after Christmas or the Nativity of the Lord. Since it can only be celebrated 40 days after Christmas, it rarely falls on a Sunday.
We were very blessed to have it fall on a Sunday yesterday because it only happens every 6 or 7 years.
At Candlemas, you can bring your own candles to church, and the priest will bless them. He also blesses the candles in the church because it’s a sacred place.
Yesterday, we brought in the candles of our prayer altar and Advent wreath, and he blessed them
